The Advertising World (The Dee Perspective)

What excites me about advertising? Well, I'm excited by the amount  of creativity that can be seen when you look at an ad. The thought process behind it all is so intricate and detailed yet many don't understand why the ad is even showing. When ads are broken down, you can see every decision that was made to make the ad appear before viewers. And that is incredible.

Ads don't typically move me, but when it does, it's generally death related. But these ads have to be done right or else they simply come across and cheesy and lame. At that point the ads become annoying and I want to look away at something else...anything else.

But advertising isn't all beauty and elegance, but there is a twisted part that is more apparent as I gain a better understanding of advertising. The manipulation of words and ideas into other people's minds to convince and persuade are a sick science yet so necessary. The amount of manipulation in the advertising world is beyond what anyone can imagine unless they're looking for it to begin with. Society has become so accustom to this that it doesn't bother them. I guess it isn't a bad thing. It brings comfort and purpose to some people.

But in the end, advertising moves the world for better or for worse. You choose how it changes you.
